Craig Fairbrass
Craig John Fairbrass was born on 15 January 1964 in Mile End, East London. A distinctive presence on both the big and small screen, he has built a career spanning decades on the strength of his commanding physicality and unmistakable Cockney accent.
Rise of the Footsoldier
Fairbrass is perhaps best loved by British crime film fans for his portrayal of Pat Tate in the Rise of the Footsoldier franchise, a role he first took on in the original Rise of the Footsoldier in 2007 and has returned to across multiple entries in the series, including Rise of the Footsoldier 4: Marbella (2019). His embodiment of the Essex hardman has become one of the defining performances of the franchise and a cornerstone of its enduring appeal.
Career
Fairbrass made his early mark in British film and television with appearances in For Queen and Country (1988) and London’s Burning (1990). His international breakthrough came with the Hollywood action thriller Cliffhanger (1993), in which he played the villain Delmar.
He joined the cast of EastEnders between 1999 and 2001, playing Dan Sullivan, bringing him to a primetime British audience. Further television roles followed, including appearances in Stargate SG-1, The Unit, The Bill, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
On the big screen, he appeared in The Bank Job (2008) as Nick Barton, St George’s Day (2012), The Hooligan Factory (2014), The Outsider (2015), Muscle (2019), and Villain (2020), in which he played Eddie Franks. In 2023 he joined the cast of the live-action One Piece series as Zeff, introducing him to a new generation of viewers worldwide.
In addition to acting, Fairbrass has worked as a producer and screenwriter, demonstrating a commitment to shaping British genre cinema both in front of and behind the camera.
