Ross McCall
Born on 13 January 1976 in Port Glasgow, Scotland, Ross McCall has built a career spanning television and film on both sides of the Atlantic. He joins the Rise of the Footsoldier franchise in Rise of the Footsoldier: Ibiza, adding another notable credit to an already impressive body of work.
Early Life and Breakthrough
McCall trained at Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead and made his first significant appearance on screen at just 13 years old, when he was selected from a large number of applicants to portray a young Freddie Mercury in the 1989 promotional video for Queen’s “The Miracle”. It was a remarkable early role for a teenager, and one that hinted at the screen presence he would go on to develop. In 1993, he appeared in the BBC children’s television series The Return of the Borrowers.
Band of Brothers and International Recognition
McCall is perhaps best known internationally for his role as T-5 Joseph Liebgott in the acclaimed HBO miniseries Band of Brothers (2001), a performance that introduced him to a global audience. He later became a recurring presence in the US drama series White Collar, playing the recurring antagonist Matthew Keller from 2010 through to 2014.
Film and Further Television Work
On the film side, McCall co-starred in the football hooligan drama Green Street in 2005, reprising his role as Dave in the 2009 sequel Green Street 2: Stand Your Ground. He also appeared in the After Dark Horrorfest film Autopsy (2008). His television work has been prolific, with guest appearances across a wide range of American series including Bones, 24, Castle, Lucifer, CSI: NY, and Luther. More recently, he appeared in the science-fiction series Silo as a Rebel Leader, and has a role in Mission: Impossible, The Final Reckoning (2025) as Agent Boulding.
Personal Life
Raised Roman Catholic, McCall is a supporter of Celtic F.C. He was previously engaged to actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, though the couple’s engagement ended in late 2008.
