Sam Gittins
Born on 20 March 1993 in Luton, Bedfordshire, Sam Gittins is a British actor who has steadily established himself as one of the more versatile performers working in British independent film and television.
Rise of the Footsoldier: Origins
Gittins plays Jacko in Rise of the Footsoldier: Origins (2021), adding another compelling screen presence to the long-running British crime franchise. His casting alongside the series’ established ensemble speaks to the reputation he had built across a range of challenging roles.
Film Career
Gittins first drew wider attention with the werewolf horror Howl (2015), in which he played Billy. He followed that with the psychological thriller Await Further Instructions (2018), playing Nick in a film noted for its tense, claustrophobic premise. That same year he appeared in Obey (2018) as Anton.
In 2020, Gittins starred in Break, a British independent film written and directed by Michael Elkin. He played Spencer Pryde opposite Jamie Foreman and Adam Deacon, with the film also featuring Rutger Hauer in one of his final screen performances. The same year saw Gittins appear in Behind the Line: Escape to Dunkirk as Danny Finnegan, and in Time Loop as Ricky Farina.
More recently, he took on the role of Deegan in Wolves of War (2023) and Herbert in War of the Worlds: The Attack (2023), before appearing as Spider in Wildcat (2025).
Television
On the small screen, Gittins has accumulated a strong list of credits. He appeared in the BBC soap EastEnders as Moose in 2016, and in Call the Midwife as Vaughn Sellars in 2015. Further TV work includes Ripper Street as Teddy Shipman, Silent Witness as Thomas Mayhew, and roles in high-profile productions. He played Corporal Sims in the science-fiction series Halo, and Sgt. William McClelland in the Second World War drama Masters of the Air.
